More about shot put

Shot put is a technical throwing event within athletics. The athlete tries to put a metal shot as far as possible into the throwing sector from a throwing circle. A good shot put facility consists of several parts, such as a throwing circle, stop board, throwing sector demarcation and optionally a return gutter.

W&H supplies materials for shot put to athletics clubs, municipalities, schools and sports facilities. The range includes, among other things, aluminium shot put circles, shot put stop boards, edging bands and return gutters.

Various materials are needed for a complete shot put location. The basis consists of a shot put circle, a stop board and a safe, clear throwing sector. Depending on the facility, additional provisions can be applied, such as edging bands and a return gutter for shot puts.

With the right layout, a safe and clear throwing facility is created for training, competitions and school sports.

An aluminium shot put circle forms the basis of the shot put facility. The circle marks the area within which the athlete must perform the put. Correct placement and sturdy execution are important for competition use and daily use.

We supply high-quality shot put circles, optionally also in prefab execution. This makes it possible to equip the shot put location efficiently and in a sport-technically correct way.

The shot put board, also called stop board, is placed at the front of the throwing circle. This board helps the athlete with the push-off and marks the boundary that may not be stepped over during the put.

A good shot put board must be sturdy, safe and suitable for intensive use. Correct assembly and positioning are important for a reliable shot put facility.

Safety is important in shot put. The throwing sector must be clearly demarcated and the surroundings must be arranged in such a way that athletes, trainers, officials and spectators keep sufficient distance.

A well-placed throwing circle, sturdy stop board and clear sector demarcation contribute to a safe situation. W&H can help think about the right layout of the shot put location.

Materials for shot put are used for training, competitions, school sports and combined events. For competition use, dimensions, placement and layout must match the applicable athletics requirements.

We supply materials for both training locations and competition facilities. Depending on the use, the right execution and any additional provisions can be considered.

When setting up a shot put location, it is important to take into account the available space, surface, throwing circle, stop board, throwing sector and safety. Maintenance, intensity of use and competition suitability also play a role.
