Bicycle bridge made of GreenMatter deck boards with grip strips in Rijswijk

We want to use GreenMatter to build a bridge to a fully circular (sports) environment. With pride we can report that this bridge has literally been built recently by the installation of a large bicycle bridge with grip strips at sports park Elsenburg in the municipality of Rijswijk. The sports park is being thoroughly renovated. Together with the Rijswijksche Hockey Club (RHC), the Rijswijkse Wielren Vereniging De Spartaan, the Fietscrossclub Rijswijk and under the guidance of B.A.S. Begeleiding en Advies Sportterreinen, the municipality is developing the site into a high-quality, sustainable and multifunctional sports park.

Unique about this bridge is that it consists of our deck boards made from recycled artificial turf. The worn-out sports field comes back in a different form. The deck board is reinforced with fibreglass, UV-resistant and 100% recyclable at the end of its service life. In addition to bridges, the deck boards can also be used for stairs and piers. This project is a great example of how the municipality of Rijswijk lets waste from artificial turf fields come back in a useful, circular way.
