Close partnership between W&H Sports & Buitensportplan

We are joining forces with Buitensportplan, a sister company of Speelplan. We will work closely together on fitting out public spaces for sport, for young and old. By combining our expertise and skills, we can fully support municipalities in designing and building challenging and smart sports locations.

Partly as a result of the coronavirus pandemic and the current crisis, sports clubs are expected to see falling membership. This has increased the need for sport in public spaces, and the trend continues. When fitting out sports locations, we want to make a difference by assessing needs in advance, so that challenging sports locations are created that fully match the intended target groups.

The (social) return

We notice that people still often think traditionally when fitting out public spaces for sport. Because the needs of today's generation are changing, you should look more at SROI (social return on investment). What social value can a sports location deliver, and how can you activate it better? The SROI of sport and exercise in the Netherlands is estimated at 1 to 2.51. This means the measured social returns are potentially 2.51 times higher than all investments made to promote sport and exercise. When someone exercises regularly, this can deliver up to €75,000 in social value per person over the rest of their life, in health, social and employment benefits.

Interactive sports equipment

Using interactive sports equipment, such as the SportBox, the SmartGoals Urban SkillCourt or QR codes on fitness stations, creates a completely different dynamic and makes sports locations smarter and more intensively used. It also generates data that helps a (municipal) client plan future sports locations even better, because needs and use can be monitored more closely.

Partnership

Buitensportplan was founded in 2021 by Walid Rahman, owner of Speelplan. It is a design, inspection and consultancy firm specialising in sport and exercise for young and old. Thanks to Speelplan's many years of experience in advising on and designing play spaces, the step to sport was quickly made.

We offer a wide range of sports equipment and sport and exercise concepts for public spaces, for various target groups. Buitensportplan provides the advice, design and inspection.

With the Aantoonbaar Beheer Systeem (demonstrable management system) from Data Control, sports equipment can be managed digitally. All planned maintenance, documents (such as certificates), visual inspections and repairs are kept up to date, so you won't face unpleasant surprises. We are the first in the Netherlands to offer this.
