SportBox in Leiden boosts sport and community spirit

Commissioned by the Municipality of Leiden, we supplied our first SportBox. The SportBox is a storage unit for fitness and training equipment that can be placed in various locations. This ensures the right equipment is always available and the sports location can be used multifunctionally.

Leiden chose the SportBox Original. The SportBox is also available in the new Light and XS versions. The Original and Light (W 1375 x D 840 x H 1250 mm) are equipped with sports equipment of your choice. The SportBox XS (W 572 x D 416 x H 452.5 mm) has space for small or individual items.

More sport and community spirit

With the SportBox, the Municipality of Leiden encourages residents to exercise outdoors. The box stands next to a public sports pitch, making the facility even more attractive to a wide target group. Patrick Nutting of the Municipality of Leiden: "We offer a SportBox because exercising in public spaces is becoming increasingly popular. We deliberately chose this location because people in this neighbourhood exercise a little less. We hope a broad target group will make regular use of the SportBox and its varied range of equipment. That can only benefit sport and community spirit in the neighbourhood."

How does it work?

Users register via an app. Using the app & move concept, they can open the box, book training sessions and view exercises. The SportBox can also be fitted with an RFID key. The Original has sliding drawers and a solar cell with USB charging. The contents are protected against theft and unauthorised use by an intelligent camera system. According to Patrick Nutting, the app is user-friendly and the equipment is well secured.
